What does it mean to be an NICEIC Approved Contractor?
It means quite a lot – for the contractor and the customer. As the UK’s leading voluntary regulatory body for the electrical contracting industry, NICEIC champions electrical safety and high industrial standards of work. For sixty years it has been assessing the electrical competence of electricians to compile a register of Approved Contractors. Contractors are approved via a rigorous assessment process that includes reviewing a sample of the contractor’s work, inspecting documentation and equipment and evaluating the competence of key supervisory staff. Regular reassessment then ensures continued compliance with NICEIC standards.
So, when a contractor holds an Approved Contractor status, customers can be assured in the knowledge that they are employing someone who conducts quality work according to high safety standards. And, as a contractor, being part of NICEIC opens up opportunities to not only expand client bases but to benefit from training and industry knowledge.
Confidence & customer protection.
When it comes to getting any work done to domestic, commercial or industrial properties, it is highly important that it is performed by competent contractors. Electrical work in particular needs to comply with a number of strict safety standards. As a customer, therefore, an NICEIC Approved Contractor promises a high standard of quality, which in turn gives valuable peace of mind.
NICEIC approval also gives customers confidence in the contractors’ abilities. NICEIC Approved Contractors are likely to have benefitted from the training and information resources that NICEIC offers, which enables them to not only stay up to date with changes in the industry, but also know how to professionally approach a wide range of electrical situations.
NICEIC insurance policies extend customer confidence further. Both the Guarantee of Standards Scheme and Independent Complaints Procedure ensure that electrical work carried out by Approved Contractors is safe and meets the correct technical standards that NICEIC expects of its members. This means that if any complaints arise concerning the technical standards of electrical work that cannot be solved by the contractors and clients, then NICEIC will endeavour to facilitate negotiations and reach a resolution without additional cost to the customer.
